Era Recreational and 4WD Club has changed a lot over the years, and we can’t wait to see how it evolves into the future.
July 2019 - The first meeting of a new Era.
Our main purpose was to provide a space for young adults (think 30 and under) to come together, make friends, and enjoy the beautiful Aussie bush.
Some of us were in other 4WD clubs but wanted a younger crowd than what those clubs had, and others didn’t have 4WDs but had finished university and wanted a way to find new friends. We decided the easiest way to solve both problems was to start a club that could morph and grow alongside us.
September 2019 - First trip!
On a fairly chilly spring morning, we took ourselves up into the Blue Mountains for the Katoomba Falls Round Walk. It was our very first trip, but it definitely wasn’t our last! It kicked off a series of bushwalks, botanical garden visits, paint and sip afternoons, and game nights.
March 2020 to March 2023 - COVID Dormancy
It goes without saying that this period of time wasn’t so great for in-person meet ups! We managed throughout with a few online events and a month long walk-a-thon but eventually dwindled the way that most things did.
July 2024 - The bounce back!
Some members came and went during our downtime, but we had a tentative first meeting back with the members we had and decided on a shift of direction. We were all a little older and so it was time the club grew with us.
Today, we don’t mind if you’re over 30, because most of us are too! You don’t need to have a 4WD to join us, and you don’t need to attend any events, trips or meetings that you don’t want to.
We don’t even mind if you’re only looking for access to the Classic Vehicle Scheme, because we know that we can support you in doing so safely and effectively.
